Kevin Pike is an Emmy Award-winning special effects supervisor and director with a career spanning over four decades in the film and television industry. Best known for his work on Back to the Future, Kevin and his company, Filmtrix, Inc., built the iconic DeLorean Time Machine that continues to inspire generations of moviegoers.
Pike’s journey began with a chance encounter on the set of Jaws in 1974, launching him into the world of practical effects. Since then, he has collaborated with some of Hollywood’s most celebrated directors, including Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis, David Fincher, and Tim Burton, contributing to films such as Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Fight Club, and Jurassic Park III.
A proud member of the Directors Guild of America, SAG-AFTRA, and BAFTA, Pike has directed award-winning commercials, taught at USC and UCLA, and served on key Academy boards for both the Emmys and the Oscars. Today, he continues to lead Filmtrix, Inc., consult for screenwriters, and mentor new generations of filmmakers.
Over the years, Pike’s work has been recognized with numerous accolades. He earned a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Special Visual Effects for the series Earth 2, and a Clio Award for Best Special Effects in a Levi’s commercial directed by Michael Bay. His groundbreaking contribution to Back to the Future earned him a BAFTA nomination, and the film was seriously considered for an Academy Award in visual effects. In addition to these honors, he has received multiple Saturn Awards from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films. Pike's awards reflect not only technical mastery but also his enduring impact on how audiences experience visual storytelling.
